Continued Use of Benefits (Continuing Students)
If you wish to continue to receive VA educational benefits while enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign you must:
- Complete the top portion only of the Veteran Student Activity form available at http://www.osfa.illinois.edu/forms/0910/VSAL.pdf.
- Register for the term of enrollment before requesting to be certified for payment of benefits.
- Complete the Certification Responsibilities form available at
http://www.osfa.illinois.edu/forms/0910/CRVEB.pdf.

Important: All students must submit a new Certification Responsibilities form each semester you request payment of VA educational benefits at the earliest possible time (pre-registration). Post-9/11 GI Bill students must also submit a copy of their Certificate of Eligibility http://www.osfa.illinois.edu/forms/0910/COE.pdf received each semester.
You must be admitted or enrolled in a degree or certificate program at Illinois. Students taking remedial, refresher or prerequisite courses must provide a written memo on department letterhead from their Dean or Academic Advisor indicating that the course(s) will transfer to their degree program.
Residency is determined when you submit your application for admission to the University. Yellow Ribbon participation levels are not guaranteed as they are determined annually and disbursed on a first come first serve basis. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are required to be registered for twelve hours during fall/spring, six hours during summer to receive maximum educational benefit payments under the Veteran’s Readjustment Benefits Act of 1966 and receipt of Social Security benefits as a dependent. Graduate students enrolled for a minimum of eight hours during fall/spring may be considered full-time by the Graduate College or their departments for the purpose of maintaining Assistantships or Fellowships.
